Rene Wildhaber didn’t just win Trans-Savoie, he dominated. Every one of the 25 stages had his name at the top of the leader-board. When you take into account the ‘wacky races’ scale and nature of the course that is quite some feat. Cows, horses, electric fences, other racers, this race threw everything at you and it was usually the Pros at the head of the race that came across these things first. Even a crash and a suspected broken rib didn’t prevent the stage win, on one of the longest and most arduous stages of the whole week. And then, just to cap things of, when everyone else was licking there wounds and taking a weekend to recover in Chamonix, Mr WIldhaber was busy finishing top 10 in the Enduro World Series round at Val D’Isere.
